Sankalp by Satin Finserv: A New Accelerator for India’s ClimateTech Innovators

Staring at a working climate-tech prototype and wondering how to get it in front of the right people? According to ANI News, a new national platform in India — "Sankalp by Satin Finserv: The Climate Edition" — wants to be that bridge.

Satin Finserv Limited (SFL) has launched the initiative to discover and back students and early-stage startups working on pressing climate and environmental challenges. With a total prize pool exceeding INR 30 lakh, Sankalp is positioned less as a competition and more as an access point — visibility, mentorship, and connections to the wider ecosystem that climate founders so often need to move from concept to real-world application.

What they're actually funding

The first edition casts a wide net. Solutions are welcome across clean energy, water management, waste management, sustainable agriculture, green mobility, sustainable cities, circular economy, and climate technology — alongside other emerging areas that don't fit neatly into one category.

Two tracks, depending on where your venture sits:

• Student Track — open to undergraduate and postgraduate students at recognised Indian institutions. Teams of up to four (or solo) can apply with an idea or early-stage prototype. Total prize money: INR 10 lakh, split as INR 5 lakh (winner), INR 3 lakh (first runner-up), INR 2 lakh (second runner-up).
• Startup Track — open to DPIIT-recognised startups. Your solution needs to be at or beyond a working prototype, MVP, or early-commercialisation stage. Total prize money: INR 22 lakh, split as INR 10 lakh (winner), INR 7 lakh (first runner-up), INR 5 lakh (second runner-up).

How the process unfolds

Sankalp runs in three stages. First, you submit your solution with a concise pitch deck covering the problem, your proposed solution, innovation, impact, and team. Shortlisted teams move to a virtual jury round, where an expert panel evaluates feasibility, innovation, and potential impact. The top teams from both tracks then advance to a Grand Finale, pitching before industry leaders, investors, and sustainability experts.

Pramod Marar, MD & CEO of Satin Finserv Limited, put it this way: "Climate innovation needs more than capital. There are emerging innovators and entrepreneurs across the country with strong ideas, but what often determines whether those ideas progress is access to the right guidance, networks, capital and opportunities. Sankalp is our attempt to create that platform." He added that for Satin Finserv, the initiative is a commitment to the wider entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem — a step beyond sustainable financing into actively surfacing promising ideas early.
