SparkLabs True Zero Opens $75,000 Non-Dilutive Grant for Climate Innovators

The window is narrow: applications opened September 1 and close September 28. For early-stage founders, the structural terms matter more than the headline figure.

The terms, stripped to mechanics

Prize pool: $75,000. Split is $50,000 to first place, $25,000 to second. No equity. No mandatory accelerator cohort attached to the award on its face. The organizer is SparkLabs True Zero, a joint structure between Net Zero TEKMER, a Türkiye-based sustainability innovation hub, and SparkLabs Group, a network of accelerators and venture funds. Program base: Ankara.

Sector scope is broad. Eligible work spans carbon reduction, renewable energy, energy efficiency, energy storage, transportation, emerging markets, and nonprofit organizations. "Regenerative technologies" and "planetary health" appear in the framing but are not operationalized into subcategories in the published criteria.

Timeline for the operator:

  • Apply by September 28
  • Finalist pitch to panel: October 5
  • Winners announced: November 15, during COP31 in Antalya (November 9–20, 2026)

The judging layer

The panel composition is the signal worth reading. Geographic spread covers North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Named members include Jason Bordoff, Founding Director of the Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia SIPA and Co-Founding Dean of the Columbia Climate School; Albert Chung, Managing Principal and Head of Climate Investments at Allstate; Kathiresan Ramprakash, Programme Director at the Energy Research Institute at Nanyang Technological University and director of the TCS-NTU GoZero Hub; and Duncan Anderson, who leads the developer ecosystem for NVIDIA Earth-2.

Read this as a portfolio of capital channels. Columbia brings policy and academic gravity. Allstate brings corporate balance-sheet climate allocation. NTU brings ASEAN energy deployment. NVIDIA brings AI-accelerated climate modeling. For founders, panel composition is a proxy for the follow-on conversations a win can unlock — or not.

Before you apply: a binary checklist

  • Sector match. If your work sits in carbon reduction, renewable energy, energy efficiency, storage, transportation, emerging markets, or nonprofit sustainability, you fit the published scope. If not, the "regenerative tech" or "planetary health" framing would need to be stretched — possible, but not a default read.
  • Geography. The prize is positioned as global, not Türkiye-centric. The panel spread supports that. But the program is anchored in Ankara and timed to a Türkiye-hosted COP. Expect Türkiye-relevant context to surface in finalist materials.
  • Capital structure. $50K or $25K of non-dilutive capital shifts burn rate runway by a measurable amount at pre-seed, and by a rounding error at Series A. Apply accordingly.
  • Timeline cost. Three weeks to apply. One pitch day for finalists. No cohort. If grant capture is your bottleneck, the conversion math is favorable. If product depth is your bottleneck, the prize does not solve that.

The prize is a signal, not a strategy. Treat it as one input in a capital stack.
