C3 EmpowerHer 2026: Scaling Climate Resilience Ventures Across MENA

Applications are open for the C3 EmpowerHer Program 2026, a six-month climate resilience accelerator serving women-led or women-benefiting ventures across the Middle East and North Africa. According to Opportunities for Youth, the cohort runs from October 2026 through a Demo Day in Q2 2027 and is delivered by C3 – Companies Creating Change with capital from the Resilient Futures Fund (RFF).

Capital Stack

The program admits 30 startups. The top ten split USD 150,000 in catalytic grant funding, capped at USD 20,000 each. The remaining 20 move through the curriculum without attached capital.

This is a tiered pool, not a flat distribution. Two parameters drive the unit economics:

1. The $20,000 ceiling per top-ten venture is non-dilutive and catalytic. It funds a pilot that produces measurable output, not burn.

2. The 20 unfunded slots still carry mentorship, sector access, and Demo Day exposure. Their function is pipeline throughput toward follow-on capital.

If the venture operates in water insecurity, food and agriculture, extreme heat adaptation, flooding, coastal risk, infrastructure vulnerability, or sustainable livelihoods anywhere in MENA, the eligibility filter is met.

Program Mechanics

Six months. Three load-bearing components:

  • Curriculum and mentorship across climate, sector, investment, and ecosystem expertise.
  • Pilot design support built to move ventures past early validation toward measurable deployment.
  • Investor and ecosystem access culminating in a Demo Day in Q2 2027.

The stated emphasis is resilience over mitigation. Adaptation infrastructure — heat response, water systems, flood defense, agricultural shifts — qualifies cleanly. Pure mitigation plays without an adaptation layer risk sitting outside the brief.

Gender is a hard filter, not a preference. Ventures must be women-led or primarily benefit women, with gender impact embedded in the model, not bolted on for the application.

Operating Checklist

Verify before writing a submission:

  • MENA operational base or target market.
  • Women-led or women-benefiting thesis with gender impact embedded in the core model.
  • Climate resilience focus with a defined pilot surface (water, heat, food, coast, infrastructure, livelihoods, or climate finance access).
  • Six-month runway sufficient to absorb an October 2026 start and a Q2 2027 Demo Day.
  • Capacity to deploy up to $20,000 in catalytic capital inside a pilot with quantifiable KPIs.

If any item returns no, the application is a distraction from the next-best funding channel. If all return yes, the economics — $20K non-dilutive plus structured investor access for six months — warrant the submission cost.
